Quickstart

The CDQ MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that gives AI assistants and agents access to CDQ business partner data. Any MCP-compatible client can connect to it to look up business partners by company name, address and identifiers.

Server URL

https://api.cdq.com/mcp

Every tool runs on behalf of the authenticated user, so no organization, storage or workspace identifier needs to be passed.

Available Tools

Tool names are grouped by product area with the prefix reference_data-.

ToolPurpose
reference_data-lookup_business_partnersFind candidate business partners by name, address parts and identifiers

Typical flow

  1. Call reference_data-lookup_business_partners with a company name or an identifier, optionally narrowed by address parts.
  2. Review the slim matches: cdqId, name, address, identifiers, status, source of record and matching score.
  3. To fetch more matches, pass the nextStartAfter value of the result as startAfter.

Lookup results may include warnings, for example when a data source has no quota left. A warning qualifies the result and does not mean the search failed.

External providers

The lookup does not query Dun & Bradstreet or Bureau van Dijk, so it cannot answer a request for a DUNS number or a BvD ID.

Authentication

The server uses the OAuth 2.1 authorization flow defined by the MCP specification. A request without a token is answered with 401 and a pointer to the server's OAuth metadata, so an MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth sets up the connection by itself:

  1. Add https://api.cdq.com/mcp as a remote MCP server in your client.
  2. The client discovers the authorization server and registers itself.
  3. A browser window opens; sign in with your CDQ account.
  4. The client receives an access token and refreshes it automatically.

The server supports the authorization code grant with PKCE (S256) and the refresh token grant.
